Ringtone maker

Pick the best 30 seconds of a track, and VocalForge adds a soft fade in and out and saves it ready for your phone.

How to use it

  1. Open a song or voice memo. The first 30 seconds are pre-selected.
  2. Drag to choose the part you want (up to 40 seconds) and preview it.
  3. Download MP3 for Android. For iPhone, download and follow the steps below.

Setting it on Android

Copy the MP3 to the phone (or download it there directly), then go to Settings → Sound & vibration → Phone ringtone and choose it from "My sounds" or the Files picker. On most phones the file can also be placed in the Ringtones folder.

Setting it on iPhone

iOS only lists ringtones in the M4R format that were added through Finder (macOS), iTunes (Windows) or GarageBand. Export a WAV here, open it in GarageBand on the iPhone, then use Share → Ringtone. Apple limits ringtones to 40 seconds, which is why the selection is capped there.

Questions

Is my audio uploaded anywhere?

No. The file is decoded, processed and encoded by your own browser using the Web Audio API. Nothing is sent to a server, which is also why it works on large files without a queue.

How long can a ringtone be?

iPhone ringtones max out at 40 seconds. Android has no hard limit, but a call usually goes to voicemail after 20 to 30 seconds, so 30 seconds is plenty.

Why add a fade?

A ringtone loops. Without fades, the jump from the end back to the start is heard as a click. VocalForge adds a 0.5 s fade in and 1 s fade out automatically.
